Parish Council Chairman

Keith Begley

Councillor Bill Cullen

It is an honour to have been elected as the chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council for 2011 – 2012 and I hope that I can repay the confidence of the people who have placed in me in this position and I am looking forward to the year ahead.

It is a year that presents the council with opportunities to make a more positive contribution to life in Saddleworth. The Localism Bill is expected to become law in the near future and in it there are expected to be provisions for more localised decision making and as the most locally elected body should rightly feature in the process and I intend to make sure that Saddleworth Parish Council make the most of this opportunity.

Another contribution I will be making during the year will be to organise and run functions and events on behalf of the Saddleworth Parish Chairman's Charity, although in reality all the hard work is done by a dedicated army known as the Chairman's Charity Committee.

The main charities I will be supporting will be the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Parkinson’s UK and Arthritis Research and also hope to fund many local charitable organisations.
